Description
Effortlessly conceal your new tattoos and help protect them during periods of sun exposure with Derm Shield Black.
Derm Shield Black is a specialized variation of Recovery Derm Shield and is not identical to the Clear version. It is designed for temporary use when full tattoo coverage and added sun concealment are needed—such as outdoor activity, travel, or situations where you want to keep your tattoo completely hidden during early healing. Because of its formulation, Black may feel more delicate on skin and is intended for shorter wear compared to Clear.
Recovery Derm Shield is a latex-free matte film adhesive bandage that helps create an optimal healing environment by protecting fresh tattoos from external contaminants while supporting clean, comfortable recovery.
Derm Shield acts as a barrier against bacteria, dirt, and abrasion while helping maintain a protected healing environment. It is waterproof yet breathable, allowing moisture vapor exchange so skin can breathe while staying shielded during daily activity.
With its opaque black finish, this version fully conceals the tattoo during healing—ideal for privacy and for reducing light exposure during short-term outdoor use.
Details:
- Black Derm Shield
- 10” x 8 yard (25.4 x 731cm) Roll

Directions for Use:
Gently clean and pat dry the tattoo and surrounding area, ensuring there is no soap or residue on the skin. With clean gloves, remove Derm Shield from the sterile pouch.
Cut Derm Shield to cover the tattooed area plus a 1–2 inch margin beyond the edge of the tattoo. Peel off the backing and apply adhesive side to skin. Start from the center and smooth outward to reduce air bubbles. Do not stretch during application.
The first application should remain in place for approximately 24 hours, depending on fluid levels. It is normal for blood and plasma to collect beneath the bandage.
Additional applications may be used as needed, with gentle cleansing and drying between changes. Do not exceed one week of total wear time across applications.
Note: Black Derm Shield is intended for temporary use and may feel more delicate on skin compared to Clear Derm Shield.
Directions for Removal:
Gently peel Derm Shield back over itself slowly from the edge. Do not pull upward. Support skin during removal if needed.

I've used both Recovery and Saniderm for tattoo aftercare, and I find Recovery to be much easier to Apply and remove, though it does tend to peel up at the edges more than Saniderm. However, this is the only one I've found with an opaque/UV shield, which is amazing for protecting new tats in summer, especially large ones. I've used it on a sleeve and two large leg pieces because I keep forgetting not to schedule stuff in the middle of August lol. But seriously I love this stuff, it's a lifesaver. Don't need to cover up in the heat as much, it applies and removes easily, and helps heal your tattoo to skip the worst of the peeling and leaking! I've recommended it to so many friends, especially for larger pieces. As long as you're cool with walking around with the trash bag look it's amazing stuff.
I had such a horrible reaction to saniderm i was hesitant to try anything new. Googled some things and found this. and I LOVED IT! I did not have a reaction and it helped me heal so much better. I am so sad to see it gone on amazon and marked up to 62 plus
I’m honestly dissatisfied with this product barely 3 clients in and they all have the same complaints the adhesive doesn’t stick and it rips on them on the parts where the adhesive does stick
